Both are Ethernet cabling—but not the same class of infrastructure

When Cat6 is usually sensible
General office workstations, printers, many phones, cameras and other endpoints often do not need a 10 Gb/s copper link. If the switch, endpoint and application are all 1 Gb/s, automatically specifying Cat6A everywhere may spend money without creating a business benefit.
When Cat6A deserves serious consideration
High-throughput workstations, certain wireless-access-point designs, data-intensive environments, long-term 10G planning and dense/high-PoE deployments can justify the larger performance margin. The pathway also needs to accommodate the selected cable and bend radius.
Do not choose cable by category alone
Category is only one part of the system. Jacks, patch panels, patch cords, installation workmanship, bundling, separation and testing all affect the finished channel.
